Afternoon 4th of July Celebration in Jaffrey

Mon 7/4/16 12:00pm

An enjoyable afternoon for Monadnock at Home members.

This is an annual event of the Jaffrey Village Improvement Society.  Please consider yourself cordially invited.  The celebration licks off at 12:00 with a reading of the U.S. Declaration of Independence in the Meeting House, followed by a rousing rendition of Yankee Doodle Dandy.  Next, stay for the Ice Cream Social on the lawn in front of the Horse Sheds behind the Meetinghouse.   Then, visit the Melville Academy; a historic museum featuring an academy of the early 1800’s that provided a classical education for young people. Finally, you may like to stop at the Little Red Schoolhouse on the Common, where a docent will talk about early education for children in the good old days.  Location: Jaffrey Center- 1 ½ mi. West of downtown Jaffrey. Call the MaH office at 603-371-0809 with any questions. No R.S.V.P. needed.
